dogs, dogs, dogs, and more dogs...

About a month ago Frank and I decided to get a new puppy.  This one would be trained by yours truly.  We decided that we would like to get a Dutch Shepherd.  My first training experience.  Shortly after we got her (and named her Rosie) we went down to a training seminar in Forida.  That was a seminar held by Tompo and Waverly's breeder.  While doing work with Tompo it was brought to our attention that we would never be able to compete him in a trial.  You see... In Schutzhund there is a decoy who has a "sleeve" on his arm.  The dog, when told, attacks said sleeve and doesn't let go until commanded to.  This is so the man can't pull away.  Ideally the bite would be "solid" or "full" (A good grip).  Tompo, however, likes to chew on the sleeve letting the man get away.  So... The breeder said he felt bad, and let us pick out a new puppy.  Tompo was always intended as a duel dog, both for working and a family pet.  He will remain as the family pet now, and Atilla, as we named him, will reside the position as a working dog.  So now our house is a full one with 5 dogs!  Waverly is doing EXCELLENT in her training, and Rosie, and Atilla are too.  It's too early to tell if they will be successful in Schutzhund, but we have reason to believe they will do just fine. 

 Benny is living it up at home as the only dog in the house to roam free.  He barks at their crates as to shut them up when they are making too much noise.  He's, in a way, helping us raise these doggies.  He stays out of trouble himself these days... mostly because he can't see the trouble to get into though.
