Outdoor Gun Range.

As my dad says it (joking) "A family that shoots together, stays together" , and that is exactly what the Hutto family did today!  We went to the outdoor gun range and shot some guns.  It was a fun day!  It was Francis, Evelyn, Adam, Stephanie, David, and Frank and myself.  We got to shoot an array of guns ranging from 9mm to AK47.  We all did well, and got a lot of practice in.  It was a lot of fun!

Christmas

Today is Christmas!!  We had a great one, and hope our family and friends did too!  We spent the morning in our new home, opening gifts, and eating a HUGE meal.  We didn't even get to half of it,  it was SOOOO big!  Then we played with the doggies for a bit, and saw a movie.  We went and saw 7 Pounds.  That's the new Will Smith movie.  It was very good. I highly recommend it!  After that we went to spend a few minuted with Frank's family, dinner, playing with the doggies again, and here we are.  A very nice day!  Tomorrow... gun range with Frank's family.  I think we're turning into rednecks.   ???!!!  Hope yours was well too!

This Year for Christmas we have decided to go it alone.  We plan on having a HUGE Christmas breakfast instead of a Christmas dinner.  I have bought Pancakes, Muffins, eggs, OJ, milk, donut holes, grits, sausage, bacon, cherry turnovers, fruit... and so on.  We should be stuffed if not sick.  Then we'll snack on it all day long.  This is my plan  for a new tradition!  I'll let you know how it goes!

Today, Because Frank and I both have the day off, we are headed to Swansea to train the doggies.  Frank has decided it would be best for Tompo and me both to have me take over Topmo's training.  I'll be able to learn more about the sport, and Tompo will progress a little more.  He has started to be a little timid around Frank, at times, because frank has been a little too rough with him.   That's okay though, he still loves Frank, and follows him around everywhere.  He just isn't as responsive with his training as he could be.  Also Tompo is a very small Malinois, and I can control him better than any other Mal, because of it.  So, we'll see.  I'm nervous about it.  :)

Gun Range...

Recently we have been thinking more and more about personal protection.  We decided it would be a good idea to buy a gun.  I have never been a big fan of guns!  I was so nervoud to purchase one, but agree that it is smart in todays times.  My rules of having one, though, included gaining a respect for them, and learning how to shoot one properly.  So, Frank and I went to the Gun range on Monday.  It turns out, I'm a pretty good shot.  Frank was very impressed!  Who knew?!

Tompo

Tompo is My 1 year old Male Malinois.  He is at that phase in his life where he thinks he should be in charge.  Much like a teenager.  Lately, when I go to feed him, he thinks it is his right to growl at me.  Being that I should be "in charge" he needs to learn respect for me.  So starts the battle.  The only way to show my dominance over him is to scare him.  Tonight was the mother of all scares.  We set him up in a way that we knew it would make him mad.  We had put a tight collar on him, and I pet him while he was eating.  When he growled at me, I had to yank him upward so he learns I'm in control, not him. There is nothing like seeing you attack trained dog strung up on a collar, trying to bite you a few inches away from your legs.  WOW! Lesson: don't mess with Tompo while he eats, and, I will always win a battle of the alpha. 

 (Disclaimer: Tompo is ONLY like this with me, as I'm the only other one who feeds him.  Frank is the well known "Alpha" in our home.  Also, he was NOT hurt in any way.  Tompo is NOT aggressive with anyone unless food is involved.  He is a very well natured dog.  Also, he and I are on good terms now.  It seems to have worked well.)

I thought it would be time to have a Blog.  Brett and Kristine are always telling me it is the way to go, so here it goes...
